11/10/21 -The lead up to Witches
Today is Monday and we’ve got our show next week on Wednesday & Thursday. Today was the first day that we had to run the whole cast 1 play without scripts. As expected everyone did exceptionally well and everyone knew their lines. It’s very freeing when you know your lines because that’s when you really get to play the character with confidence and add extra bits to pull it all together. Tomorrow we will be running thorough it without scripts for cast 2 and hopefully it will go just as well. Something we all need to work on is keeping the energy up and remaining in character the whole time.
Tuesday: Today we rehearsed all of act 2 without scripts and everyone knew their lines and has started to really become the characters and put on a show. There is a big scene in the ballroom where there’s a lot of witches and the grand high witch is telling them what she expects from them in one years time. We edited this scene to make it more natural and exiting. I feel very free in that scene now that I know we can do whatever we want in that scene to make it enjoyable for the audience. stocktoncollege-my.sharepoint.com
Wednesday: its exactly one week until showtime. we started off the day by all getting changed into our costumes and showing them to Kelly to see if she approves. everyone had really good outfits and really looked the part. for my doorman costume im wearing a knee length pencil skirt with tights, a white shirt, a long black coat and a ribbon tie with black buckle shoes. for my witch character (celia) im wearing a black denim mini skirt with tights, a creme polo neck top and black low heeled boots. we all ahve to wear either a scarf or a blazer as the witch so im wearing a light purple scarf and everyone has to wear black gloves. Kelly was worried we were a bit flat, so we spoke to david who is the lead in a west end show \"the show that went wrong\". he told us that we should be exited to preform in rehersals ebcause thats when we can try new things and have a laugh with it. then he also said we should be exited for rehearsals and the real thing because that\"s when we get to show off and have fun, its what we love to do after all. The zoom call really inspired me and got me all edited to preform.
Today is Monday and the show is on Wednesday. There’s only today and tomorrow left to rehearse and the nerves is kicking in. Everyone’s buzzing with excitement and fear at the same time and I think it’s mainly because we haven’t preformed it in the theatre yet and we don’t know where we’re coming in from and our positions. Today we’re blocking both the shows in the theatre where we’re going to be preforming. We set up all of the lighting we’ll be using throughout and organised when all of the props need to be put into the stage. We learned where in the stage we have to go through. However we ran out of time and only blocked cast one today so tomorrow for our last proper reversal we’ll run through cast 2 and block it. Some people got their bald caps done today as a tester and they look REALLY good. They’re exactly how we imagined them to be and we’re all very exited about it. Also the wigs look really professional and realistic which is very good.
ITS TUESDAY !! Final rehearsal day for ‘The Witches’! We’re all really pumped up and ready for the show now. Today we’re blocking cast two because we don’t know where we’re supposed to be yet. Now that we know where we’re supposed to be and what we’re doing I’m way more exited than nervous ( for now haha). We’ve organised who’s bringing the props on and when. The lighting is fully done and it really sets the tone and brings the scenes to life along with the music. We’ve done dress rehearsals and everyone looks the part. One thing people have struggled with is keeping a loud volume whilst preforming because the theatre is quite big and there’s also music in so we have to make sure everyone can hear us because if they’ve paid to watch a show and they can’t hear anyone they’ll be annoyed. But everyone knows what they have to do and I’m sure it will all be great :) !!!!!
