Witches character worksheet - Doorman

 

Fist name:  Sophia 

Her name is Sophia, which is a classic Greek name  which means wisdom. 

Occupation: She took art  in college but until she can save up enough to move away and pursue a career as an artist she works as a doorman at a prestigious hotel in Newcastle.

Age - 19

 

Intelligence-  Sophia is smart. She took her education seriously because she knew it could get her far earn her money. Her mother could never afford a tutor so they sat and did homework together until she was old enough to figure it out on her own.

Gender  – female

 

Knowledge – Shes still young so is becoming more knowledgeable each day. She hasn’t really experienced the world on her own yet so she doesn’t really have much knowledge about that. However, she’s socially aware and has a lot of knowledge from her school education. Sophia and her mother speak fluent french because that’s the only language her grandma could understand.

Mannerisms – Sophia is a nice person so she would be quite smiley and polite to all the guests. She is nervous about loosing her job so if things are going wrong she gets quite stressed.

Personality – Sophia is a kind girl who just gets on with things. She doesn’t complain and wants to help people. She’s very driven and ambitious and she’s an old soul. She’s gentle, sympathetic and charming. She’s also a nervous person when she doesn’t know what to do in a situation. 

Clothes – She dresses smart and neat. She tries her best to look professional. She wears a navy blue suit and a white shirt with a simple black tie to look the part.

Temperament -  Sophia has an artistic temperament after her mother and grandmother who were artists. Shes sweet natured. 

Grooming – Sophia always looks presentable and clean. She always does her hair and makeup and smells nice. She’s still a teen so her  appearance means a lot to her.  

likes/dislikes – Sophia has always loved art. Whether it be pain on a canvas or words on paper. She’s always appreciated the uniqueness of each piece of art. That’s what drew her to becoming an artist. Sophia can’t stand to see people feeling upset. Whenever someone is sad around her she’ll always do anything she can to make them feel better again, like draw them a picture or give them a hug. When she can’t make someone feel better she feels helpless and powers less and she really hates that burning feeling.

Movement – she has good posture and holds her hair high. However when she’s nervous she can become quite twitchy and fidgety.                

Beliefs –  Sophia believes that you have to work for what you want. If you get things handed to you you’re not in control of your life because people can just as easily take it away.  She also lives by the quote,” It costs nothing to be nice”. She has always appreciated and been grateful for other peoples kindness towards her and tries to bring that feeling to more people.

style of speech –   She articulates her words. She is soft spoken and has quite a posh  London accent.

Fears – she fears she’s not going to escape this life she doesn’t like. She’s afraid she’ll be trapped in England with no money to support herself so she works a lot to earn money. 

Anything else – Her grandma moved to England with her daughter ( Sophia’s mam) in 1961 in hopes of becoming a successful artist in London. Her and her mam used to have no money then when her mam remarried they lived in a nicer house and her mam was happy however her step sister Charlotte got all the attention and all the money is spent on her whilst Sophia is pushed aside by her stepdad. She’s a little bit like Cinderella.

 

Goals – Sophia is working towards moving to France with her cat Misty and becoming an artist. She wants to live out of the city, away from the crowds where it’s calmer. She wants to live where it’s beautiful so she can paint all the things ha around her.

self – image – She doesn’t see herself as smart or talented because She has  normal teenage self esteem issues. She’s very humble. She thinks she looks average so she’s not overly confident.

Sophia lives with her mother her step father and her stepsister who is 2 years younger than her. She’ not close to her step dad or step sister but she’s close with her mam. She doesn’t see her dad so she spends a lot of time with her few friends and gets love from them instead. She has a grey cat named Misty that’s been her best friend since she was eight.

Ethnicity  & cultural background – (class, education, where they were brought up) - 

 

Sophia was brought up in London. She lived a lower class life with her mother who was an unsuccessful painter until her mam got married and her family had more money and lived in a bigger house in Newcastle. She went to a normal public school and is very smart. She is British but her grandmother (Mams side) was french.

Their general history –( what time have they been brought up in)

 

Sophia was bought up in the 90’s / early 2000s. The early 2000s was a time where women were finding their power and standing up against sexism so she was a feminist. 

Personal history – (significant events in the character’s life their personal ‘backstory’

 

Her dad left when she was three and she doesn’t see him anymore. This meant that she and her mam were very close. However, this also put a lot of responsibility into her because her mam couldn’t do everything herself. Sophia was given her Mams surname after her father left,  Her surname ‘Abreo’ and means ‘wise councillor’.

Sophia Gwen Abreo is a English/ french door-woman in a prestigious hotel in Newcastle. She was born and raised in London however, moved to Newcastle 3 years ago when her mother remarried a wealthy  man named Nathanial. He and his daughter Charlotte refused to move out of Newcastle because Charlotte's mother lived there and she had to live near her. This meant that Sophia had to leave her old life behind and move. Sophia was just starting college when she moved to This new city. She’s always seen her education as important and valuable, it’s something that she really honours. This meant that she was very happy when she found an art college nearby that she managed to get into. She left at top of her class and started working right away. Nathanial has provided a nice life for her mother and her financially but feels pushed aside compared to the attention Charlotte received. Soph has always been passionate about art since she grew up with an artist as a mother. Her grandmother was also an artist so she’s learned a lot about art from them. Her mother’s dream was also to be a successful artist and she’s still working towards it. Sophia works hard to earn money that she puts into her savings so she can save up to eventually move to France where she can live in the beautiful town her grandma lived. So wants to live in the sun in a peaceful town where it’s calm and has lots of picturesque views to paint and draw. Sophia was working at the well known hotel one day because she made the other doorman trade shifts whether her so she could work the event they had on. It was a meeting for the royal society in prevention of cruelty for children and Sophia was looking forward to welcoming all of these wonderful, generous and kind women into the hotel because she really looked up to these and the hard work they put into helping others. She had a delightful day greeting all of the guests, but it isn’t a day at work if there isn’t an ignorant entitled man and his greedy ignorant child their to annoy her. This time it was the Jenkins family. Their daughter Bea always stood near her arrogantly mimicking her to undermine her and prove her privilege over her because her dad claims to be a rich man who thinks he’s ‘all that’. Bea and her snarky attitude do boil Soph’s blood but she’s professionals S cool headed so she let it go. Something that always calms Sophia down and clears her mind  after a long day with a few irritating guest and trying hard to make a good first impression of the the hotel is painting a simple picture in her bedroom and then snuggling up in bed with her grey, fluffy, loving cat ‘Misty’ who she loves.
