Copy Cat Scene - Production

COPY CAT PRODUCTION

Twilight – Golden Eyes

Finally, we filmed the copy cat scene. After planning it and discussing it since we started, we’ve finally got it filmed. On the day we were shooting it I wore dark blue denim straight leg jeans and a white button up top like Kristen wore for the scene. I wore black converse that I already had and borrowed Henry’s red backpack to match the original costume. I did natural makeup and lightly curled my hair and added a hair and to get Bella’s look. I spent the morning watching the original scene and practicing the accent. Bella’s accent is American however, it’s not a valley accent like you usually hear it’s more of a subtle American accent. A way I helped to get the accent was to make my accent a bit deeper like Bella’s because it helps me get in her head space. I’d already learned the lines and watched and analysed the video so I could annotate my script with the different faces and movements she made. Then I got to college and rehearsed the witches for about an hour, then Casey and Sophie came and got me, Jason, Caitlin and La Toya. We went to the film and TV studio where they got their camera equipment and us actors went over our lines with each other. When then went to the science lab with Kane who had to stay with us the whole time because there’s expensive equipment in there. We planned out where me and Jason would sit and where everything would happen. We got out a microscope that they use in the scene and some slides we’ll need. We then shot the copy cat scene shot by shot which was good so you can quickly check the original video and see which movements they make to get it as accurate as we can.

I think the whole cast did really well in organising when and where, everyone sorted themselves out with hair and costume which is helpful. I think Casey and Sophie did a really good job with the camera shots they’re really accurate. Casey did a very good job putting all the shots together smoothly and made it look a lot like twilight with the blue tone. The music in the background was at a really good volume the same as the movie, not overpowering but still inspired the scene. Also we filmed the copy cat scene on the Thursday and got it back in the Sunday so it didn’t take Casey long to edit it. We filmed most shots once so it didn’t take too long to film, everyone was very professional just getting it done. I think La Toya and Caitlin both did a good performance. La Toya did a very accurate presentation of her character which is impressive considering the original character is a boy. Caitlin also did a good job when she said her her first lines however when she said her last line she forgot to put in the American accent but it was in the background so it’s not very obvious. I also think Jason did the same faces that Edward did in the original scene but he didn’t really do much of an American accent it was mainly just his normal Teeside accent most the time. I think you could tell that I’d been practicing the American accent because it had improved from when I first started learning the script. To improve I could’ve taken more time to pause when I was supposed to and shown all the emotions I was feeling. Overall I’m proud of everyone involved.
