preforming arts school workshop
Meeting a preforming arts school
Today was an exciting and helpful day! Very kindly, a tutor from a well known preforming arts school in Scarborough came in to advertise her course. She played some very interesting games with us that subconsciously improve your acting ability. The first thing we did was all get into partners, I partnered with Karly. Then we had to do this routine sort of thing where we have to say 1 2 3 between each other so it changes what number you get each time. Then we switched to instead of saying one we clapped then instead of saying two we jumped then instead of saying three we span around. I found it easier to do actions instead of word, the tutor said that was very common. I think this game could really help me, and the others, get ready for our performances. Another game we played (which didn’t hurt your brain as much haha) was a game where we all had to stand in a circle and face the person to our right and in order everyone would turn around and kind of shoot the person next to them. Then you could stop it and send it back the other way or shoot it over the circle to a completely different person. It got funny when we didn’t shoot them anymore but instead said a word or made a noise, it was funny because people where coming out with some pretty random stuff lol. This game is good to get our brains ticking. Hahaha there was also another funny game that made you REALLY self aware. We had to find a partner and then mirror their walk then they’d sit down and watch how you interpret their walk, then we’d have to get more and more dramatic with it, I was with Justin and I eased up with my arms swinging so far haha. When Justin mirrored me I was like, there’s no way this is how I walk, so the game helped with self awareness but also into thinking about the way you move and act. Overall I like the sound of the course and think it’s a good place to go. However, it is very expensive and in a place where there isn’t really much around so it could be boring at times. I will keep definitely it as an option though because the acting part is good! :)
