Zoom Call with Molly Taylor
Today we had the honour of having a zoom call with the writer of our 2023 connections play, Molly Taylor. Molly joined a zoom call with EVERYBODY who was performing her play ‘old times’ in connections. She came to answer questions and explain thought processes.
I was watching on a big screen in college with other students so I couldn’t ask questions however, lots of people asked some very valuable questions that really interested me.
The question we were all dying to know was, which child was the murderer. This was an exciting question because we have had many discussions regarding, which is the murderer? Since it doesn’t specify in the play. However, Molly told us that she actually didn’t know who the murderer was. She never knew either and that’s what she likes about play writing, she can leave it up to interpretation. Then it’s up to the actors to decide how they want to interpret it. Our class has decided to play it as though everyone was the murderer. To keep the audience always guessing.
I really loved that. I think she gave us lots of insight but still gave us the power to ultimately make the character uniquely our own. I’m very excited about this play and can’t wait to see the end result!!
