Unit 12- task 1- project proposal

 Project proposal

Candidate Declaration - I confirm that the attached portfolio is all my own work* and does not include any work completed by anyone other than myself

(It wouldn’t let me do the first part on the work sheet so I’ve wrote the questions down separately instead, hope that’s okay)

Section 1: rationale

This course was my first real look into the acting world. I had been to a club were we'd done improv classes before but I'd never participated in any theatre performances or short movies. When I joined the course I was given countless opportunities to perform on stage and on screen and I participated in as much as I could to get a full showreel and portfolio. This made my confidence grows so much so fast and by my second show I'd gone from ensemble to a lead.

Since then my confidence and abilities in acting have only grown more and more. I now feel confident to start drama school in September and be able to keep up with the curriculum. The first show we did really pushed me out of my comfort zone even though I only had two lines, that’s all I was ready for at the time. However as soon as I’d performed that I was desperate to perform again and the next time I played a lead violet in Charlie and the chocolate factory, she was a main character and had a very long monologue. This really pushed me but it made my confidence grow so much.  I have also learnt how to do backstage roles like marketing, costume organisation and set design. I have also grown a lot personally. I have learnt time management, teamwork, project management, independence, communication and professionalism. All of these skills I’ve learnt these past two years will help me in my future in the industry and outside of it.

Section 2: project concept

This projects aims are for us to work independently to develop our own work and collaboratively to create our hardest show yet. We aim to work in small groups to make a plan and accurately do our production roles so they benefit the show. We also need to independently make sure that no time is being wasted when we’re not rehearsing. This time has to be used to work on character development by going through scenes alone, watching different variations of the character being performed, reading the book or researching the character. We need to also find time to do our assignments and keep in top of our daily evaluations ( blogger) in the LRC. To make sure I’m accurately and responsibly managing my time I will refer to my timetable that I’ve created(below). We don’t have time to waste so we want as much rehearsal as possible for all 3 casts. That’s why we’re going to ask Tom for his dance studio since his class has broken up for summer. Then we can also have a cast rehearsing in the dance studio when musical theatre leave for summer which is about three weeks before we leave. We will give each other lots of feedback to help so we will also be watching rehearsals and making notes when doing new scenes. We have to keep evaluating our days on blogger to keep moving forward in these last vital weeks.

Section 3: evaluation

Evaluating our days in these last few weeks is vital to make sure we are making the most of the time we have and moving forward. I will write down a production diary for this term which will include my improvement in the show, challenges I’ve found, progress I’ve made with my production role and what I think I did well/ could improve on. I will write down positive and negative feedback that I receive and I will share my personal journey with the character. Feedback is vital so it’s great when you’re working with a passionate cast that gives and receives feedback constantly to help with our performance.
